Discussion
What do you do when your inner child has a temper tantrum? What if it’s at work and you’re talking to your boss? Or when your child won’t listen and you are at the end of your rope?
This is when we need our inner parent. Our “bigger” self can see more sides and relate to the upset parts. The inner child is playful and fabulous, but isn’t the part of ourselves that can navigate the adult world. They need help.
Attachment wounds happen when we are not seen or are dismissed. A part of ourselves who is able to have some distance from our hurt is needed.
Inner Parent
Part of working with our hurt child parts is to get to know our “inner adult”. Soul, essence and Self are used to describe that part of ourselves that is essential, our deepest being. Accessing this part gets us to our Inner Parent. When we get in touch with our deepest part, often we have a wider view (a meta-view in process work), and might feel in touch with spiritual selves and others.
In this class. we’ll get in touch with our deepest self, and practice being this part so we can use it when we need it.

About Your Teacher
Catharine Macdonald
PsychoTherapist, facilitator
I like to help individuals and couples find ways to bring their deepest selves into the world. I combine empirical approaches with a wholistic view that welcome other viewpoints and ways to see the world. The processwork belief that there is often something useful in disturbances (and attractions) is one foundation of my work.
I believe our sense of self is created with others, and attachment theory is the model for human relationships. The bond is stronger or weaker, depending on the situation. We all seek to see parts of ourselves in people around us. We can support each other by noticing more, and recognizing all the small parts.
Passionate about nature, our connection to places we live, and social justice. I love the connections and community we create on Processwork Online.
